What’s going up in Bend’s NorthWest Crossing neighborhood?

Five Talent software is first signed tenant in new office park

Owner: District 2 East LLC, a partnership of Brooks Resources and Taylor Developments

General Contractor: SunWest Builders

Architect: Steele Associates Architects

Details: The most noticeable aspect of a new office park under construction on the far west side of Bend is the retaining wall along NW Mt. Washington Drive.

The property owner and developer hopes that by the end of 2021, five new buildings totaling 52,000 square feet will fill out the site, which is in NorthWest Crossing. The campus at the northwest corner of NW Mt. Washington and NW Lolo drives, along with nearby office and light industrial buildings, will be dubbed District 2, said David Ford, vice president of real estate development at Brooks Resources, which is managing member of the property owner. The name is derived from maps of the area, he said.

The buildings will be oriented to the west, around Potts Court or facing NW York Drive, Ford said. The street one block west of the Mt. Washington thoroughfare is already home to the Hydro Flask headquarters and other growing companies.

The first building is underway along NW York Drive north of Potts Court. Five Talent software consulting will occupy all 10,853 square feet when the building is complete this fall, Ford said.

“We’re hoping to recruit more businesses like Five Talent,” he said. With a leasing minimum of 4,200 square feet, the office park is not catering to small business or startups. “They’re making the next big leap to their business plan.”

The owners are seeking city permits for the next building, which will also face NW York Drive, and will decide this fall when to proceed with a third building fronting Mt. Washington, he said.

The design of District 2 will be similar to Hydro Flask’s headquarters, Ford said. All the buildings will be single-level with vaulted ceilings and garage-style bay doors.
