Anticipation is building around the official unveiling of The New Redmond Hotel by SCP (Soul Community Planet) as the final pieces are put in place towards the opening of the revitalized downtown icon, scheduled for December 1.
Among the amenities the property will offer is SCP’s trademark “Fair Trade Pricing Program,” designed to allow guests to determine the price they pay at checkout “based on the quality of their experience.”
SCP Redmond is the latest addition to SCP’s hotel portfolio which embodies the stated essential core values of the brand — Soul (personal wellness), Community (social good) and Planet (the environment).
Located in the rapidly growing hub of Redmond, the 41,000 sq. ft., four-story, 49-room historic building has undergone a two-year, $7 million renovation that preserved historical features while merging its classical design with elements of SCP’s trademark mindful, minimalist style. In keeping with the company’s environmental ethos, the renovation included the use of sustainable and regionally sourced materials.
In addition to the hotel, the property includes the “SCP Commons” creative co-working space, SCP Fit Flex fitness area and the Provisions market offering healthy, fresh and locally sourced food choices. The Rooftop social garden restaurant/bar — the only rooftop experience in Redmond, boasting stellar views of the Cascade Range — opened in August and continues to expand its hours of operation.
Guests wishing to book adventure excursions with a local tour company or guide can also do so through SCP Redmond for an additional fee.
“Leisure and business travelers seeking a different hotel experience will find it at SCP Redmond,” said SCP co-founder and CEO Ken Cruse.
“Whether they want a sanctuary where they can relax and unwind, a welcoming place to stay on business trips or a comfortable base for their adventures in the outdoors, SCP Redmond has all the features and amenities to make their sojourn unique and special.”
SCP also recently unveiled a new membership program “serving those who value personal wellness, social good and the environment.” The new program, which expands on the previously announced SCP Commons coworking memberships, offers members 24/7 access to all SCP venues, including coworking and SCP Fit fitness and wellness centers.
“The strength of SCP comes from the shared values of our guests, our members and our teammates. Our new SCP membership program is designed to foster a sense of community among those who seek to live a more conscious lifestyle,” said Cruse.
“Our non-traditional, collaborative SCP venues are particularly well-suited for people who desire to blend work, fitness, enrichment and earth-friendly practices into their daily lives.”
Through the new program, members will have access to a full range of fitness and wellness programming and coworking spaces while enjoying SCP’s vibrant, eco-friendly social environments. Additionally, members will enjoy special programming and access to eco-adventures and wellness retreats at Salishan Resort on the Central Oregon coast.
SCP also recently announced the appointment of Tobias Colvin as SCP Redmond’s new General Manager.
With more than 19 years of luxury hospitality management experience in city hotel and resort operations, Colvin will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the renovated hotel.
“We welcome Tobias to our team and know that besides sharing SCP’s holistic hospitality values, he has the leadership skills to help make SCP Redmond a big success,” said Cruse. “Tobias brings a diversity of life experiences, a love for the outdoors, and, following management roles with top-rated hotel properties such as the Ritz Carlton Club in Aspen, an exceptional hospitality resume.”
Prior to joining SCP, Colvin had a senior leadership role at Black Butte Ranch, where his achievements included running “The Central Oregon Shootout,” the largest golf tournament in Central Oregon.
He has also held positions as director of catering and conference management at the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, director of events at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Georgia, director of meetings and events at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge in Charlotte, North Carolina, and club manager at The Ritz-Carlton Club Aspen Highlands in Aspen, Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a bachelor of science in Natural Resources Management.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the historic SCP Redmond as general manager just as it gets ready to open its doors,” said Colvin. “I’ll be working hard to make sure we provide excellent service for our guests, so they have wonderful memories of their stay.”
