Tuko pamoja…
in Tanzania we say tuko pamoja, in Swahili it means “We are Together”. For example, when a villager comes to us with a problem, we invite the chairman of the village, and we listen to the issue at hand, then together we come up with a solution to the problem, that way the burden doesn’t fall on one person but the entire village, as the chairman represents the entire village. Because the decisions are made together, no one can come later to say anything about how the issue was handled. The outcome is positive, people feel heard and experience is gained.
In American often times we feel completely alone in our businesses and decision making processes, it’s important especially with small businesses that we enlist others to help us with decision making and use resources to help us gather information. Throughout my years of owning Premier Builders Exchange I have been a part of a couple such groups and have had positive experiences with both. These groups consist of like minded individuals, with businesses of a comparable size so when problems arise in business, such as insurance questions, employee issues, banking or funding ideas, growth, etc. together we can have a discussion about how everyone has handled similar situations in there businesses in the past. It’s a win-win for everyone involved, it feels good for those who contributed their incite, because people like to help others and share their knowledge. The business owner on the receiving end learns from the experience of others and gains incite into the issues they are facing. Central Oregon has several business that provide these services, the two that I have been a part of are 10x Catalyst Groups and Opportunity Knocks, don’t wait until you need help, get involved today to help your business be the best that it can be. You are not alone, Tuko Pamoja – We are Together!
